Pirate's Cove....Arrrrrr!!!

Today we visited a local water park, Pirate's Cove. Matt nor I had ever been there, and we thought it would be fun to experience it as a family. We had to make a quick run to the store to buy Lydia another swimsuit, because hers is at daycare for water play days. This stripey number is what she picked out!

It took her a few minutes to warm up to all the crazy water splashing everywhere, but after she saw Mommy and Daddy willingly run through the spraying waters, she became much more intrigued! Pretty soon she was swimming and splashing with everyone else. It was just one of those great days of summer.

Tug O' War over the monkey towel! Try not to be blinded by my whiter than white legs!

Mommy won the towel war...

Mommy gave in and gave it back...those cute kids always win!

Lydia got the hang of this sunbather thing pretty quick!

Off to other adventures!

Matt relaxing by the poolside

She spent a lot of time playing with her towel!

Mom and Dad ham it up for the camera

Still playing with the towel...

Lydia makes sure this metal pole stays warm and dry

Peek-a-boo!

Who needs to play in the water when you have a daddy who'll do this?

Daddy! You look cold...please take comfort in the monkey towel!

Here is a picture of the park

Lydia wasn't overly thrilled when we said it was time to go home...

But the long shadow of the law told her it was time to go

Bye for now Pirate's Cove...I'm sure we'll be back soon!

Ye Olde Renaissance Festival

We made our yearly trek out to the Renaissance Festival on Saturday June 2oth. It's located south of Denver, in a little nothing town called Larkspur. The Festival is the same every year, but we always enjoy going. Honestly, as much fun as the Festival itself is, it's almost more fun to see what kind of people will be there. Like Halloween, for some reason RenFest (that's the the "cool" short term for it I've heard people use...so I'm cool now) is open invitation to wear whatever obnoxious clothing you like. I don't really mind that people dress in costume for it...that's to be expected...but some people (women especially) come in practically their underwear or shirts that expose WAY too much. And these women are not top models, unfortunately...many could, um, afford to lose a few pounds...or a hundred...

ANYWAYS, we go every year and always enjoy the food, shops, and shows. This year will be Lydia's third visit!

Lydia makes a wish at the fountain!

In goes her penny!
Smiling for the camera
My Fancy Renaissance 'do
I got called everything from "Heidi" to "Leia" that day! And yes...that is all my own hair in there!
My two favorite peeps!
Lydia has a blast in the "Children's Realm"
Lovin' the chickens!
This Rooster cracked me up...he just hung out on his perch above our heads...he was HUGE!
This is the pic that made me realize I fit in with all the dweebs at RenFest!
Lydia pays for a pony ride
She picks her pony (poor llama...no one wanted to ride him!)

What good form! She can even wave! (Don't get too excited, Grandma Susan!)

Off to the next adventure!

This creepy dude played this cool instrument of bells hooked to a piano like keyboard

Matt and Lydia snuggle as we wait for the jousting match to begin

Lydia must have been inspired by the day...when we got home she wanted to dress up as a princess! TOO cute!
